LUFT x MIDDING // DOUBLE HEADLINE Hot on the heels of our double headline announcement earlier, here’s another one for good measure: a Tough Love combo headlined by Luft and Midding, with support from The Weird Weather Underground! This special one-off show goes on sale Friday 24th July at 10am. // About the bands: Luft are a Berlin-based five-piece led by former TOY frontman Tom Dougall. In covert operation for some time, Luft now begin to plot their own course with the release of debut single, 'Something On My Mind', a midnight-dwelling, romance-baiting reverie that envisages the faded glamour of a lost Soho and all the attendant psychodrama that might entail. Cardiff quartet Midding released their second EP ‘.44’ earlier this year - an oblique reference to Son of Sam serial killer David Berkowitz and his connection to The Process Church of the Final Judgment cult. The Process Church carries a damaged reputation (in part by association), but in its infancy its spiritual radicalism, aesthetic manipulations and commitment to a burgeoning counterculture make good source material for future inspirations. The Weird Weather Underground take inspiration from cold war counter-culture, spooks both real and imagined, a lyrical focus on things hidden, the worldly, the witchy, and a sonic debt to The Velvets, The Sonics, The Replacements and The Beach Boys. The result combines a desire to re-radicalise folk music today with a basic inability to write actually pretty songs. //
