About
**Rough Trade Recommends: Bathing Suits + Omertà + KiosK** Rough Trade's monthly new music showcase returns with some of the best up-and-coming acts in the alternative scene. **Bathing Suits** Bathing Suits are surging into clubland armed with a battery of abrasive guitars and pummelling techno. Drawing as much from the frenetic energy of contemporary post-punk acts like Model/Actriz and Psychotic Monks as from the raunchy sensibilities of early 2010s pop, their debut EP ‘KILL BATHING SUITS’ is released today via Underplay Recordings. Across the five tracks - recorded and produced by Benny Howell, AKA Leeds/Berlin DJ and producer DJ Subaru - the four-piece move through noise-trance club in 7 minute epic ‘Empathy’, snarling big beats, basslines and battering feedback in break-out single ‘I Can Be A Freak’ and four to the floor fierceness in new single ‘Swan Princess’ out today with the release of the EP. Speaking on the track, vocalist /live drum machine operator Freyja Blevins adds: “Swan Princess was one of the songs that we had written earlier last year, it was supposed to be a sort of dancey but still punky track, something that fit well into our live set. At the time I was quite inspired by a-lot of what Model/Actriz were coming out with.” **Omertà** Omertà are a chaotic noise rock outfit from London, founded in the summer of ‘66 after all meeting at a naked barbecue, they set their sights on the complete and total annihilation of every small cap venue in the city. They’ve become known for their dastardly unserious stage antics and violent outbursts in the name of hot sweaty love. **KiosK** Leeds-based duo Kiosk make electro influenced by the city's diverse DIY scene. Their sound shifts between postpunk inflected dance beats, dreamy soundscapes and pounding techno noise, combining drum machines and synths with effects-heavy bass.
